Make room for God
It was 2016; it all started when I asked God whether I should include spiritual content in my startup (lifestyle content websites). I prayed, and God spoke to me to listen again to the recorded sermon of Pastor How on Make Room for God.
At night on the same day, I locked myself in my room and took out my notebook and my Bible.
Here is what God speaks to me:
2 Kings 4:8–10 (NKJV)
Elisha Raises the Shunammite’s Son
8 Now it happened one day that Elisha went to Shunem, where there was a notable woman, and she persuaded him to eat some food. So it was, as often as he passed by, he would turn in there to eat some food. 9 And she said to her husband, “Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. 10 Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.”
In verse 8: It is very rare in old times that woman was considered equal, yet in this passage, she was mentioned as notable. This indicates that the woman is well-to-do and prominent.
In verse 9: She recognized that holy man of God, who passed by regularly. On top of that, she even spent some time eating with Elisha. Similarly to us, God regularly passes by our life, whether in weekend church service, Connect Group(CG) sessions, or our daily lives.
In verse 10: 2 hours spent in God's presence was not enough for her. Therefore, she wanted to make room for God in her home so that she could have the presence of God 24/7.
Here, God speaks to me, not answering my prayer about whether I should include spiritual content in my website or not…
…but He tells me, “Regardless of what you do, son, make room/time for God.”
Proverbs 3:6 (TLB)
6 In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.
In this verse, God only wants us to put Him first in everything we do. But, He does not require us to put everything about Him in everything we do.
God, our Father, wants to have a relationship and fellowship with us.
